Meetings

Please join us

Unless otherwise noted, the ABA meets the first Tuesday of every month (except July) from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., lower level of the Ashland Public Library, 66 Front Street. Early Networking is always at 6:30 p.m.

Any ABA member can make a 10-minute presentation during a meeting and/or sponsor the Early Networking or a Business After Hours event. Call Mike Kane at 508-881-8550.

Meetings are free of charge, and are open to all business owners, executives, and managers. Often there is a guest speaker, workshop, or panel discussion to help your business. See the calendar for what's coming up.

Minutes of ABA Meeting – January 5, 2010

EARLY NETWORKING - 14 Members attended the first meeting of the new decade  and enjoyed chicken tenders from Wings Over Framingham  provided by 126 Self Storage.

MEMBERSHIP - New members are Bradley Dinerman of Fieldbrook Solutions LLC and Robert Smith of Café Mod.

MAP 2010 - John Ellsworth gave an update on the 2010 Map project. All previous advertisers have been contacted. Many are not renewing the ads this year due to the economy. The Map is one of the three primary revenue generators for the ABA. The other two are membership dues and the annual golf outing. The general membership will be offered advertising spots next via email blasts and phone calls.

WI-FI - John also gave us a brief introduction to Wi-Fi as a Town wide potential. We may get Greg Mathias, an Ashland resident and a nationally renowned Wi-Fi consultant as a future speaker to educate us a bit more on the pros and cons.

PRESENTATION – Mike Alpert of Contemporary Closets gave a presentation on his company’s custom closet line by Closetmaid.

SPEED NETWORKING – Adam Sachs led a brisk networking  roundtable on Networking. Four facilitators asked members  to take just two minutes to introduce themselves, their business, describe your clients, your source of clients and several obscure facts about yourself or your business. The trick is to be brief, concise and interesting. The first time was difficult but it got easier each time. Thank you Adam.

Reports – Treasurer ReBecca Savard reports that the ABA has $13,000 in its account as of 1/5/10.

NEW BUSINESS – The ABA needs two co-secretaries to take notes at the monthly meetings. It’s not hard. Please contact Mike Kane at vp@ashlandbusinessassociation.com . The March “Spotlight on Business” in the Ashland directions is available on a first come basis. Contact Mike also.

MARCH MADNESS – The March regular meeting will be held at The Trackside Grill on March 2nd. Munchies will be provided by the ABA. Drinks are on your own.

STEERING COMMITTEE – Next meeting Tuesday, January 12 – noon at Town Hall.
